The Historical, Recommended, and Standard Influences on PHMSA’s CRM Regulations

While Control Room Management (CRM) is regulated by PHMSA, its history is engrained in standards and recommended practices that have influenced today’s compliance with the code of federal regulations. Such publications have often been the result of incidents, and their impact has shaped the key aspects of CRM and its relationship with safe operations. This webinar provides an overview of the most influential standards and recommended practices regarding particular elements of CRM with attention to their implementation in the current 49 CFR § 195.446 and 192.631 regulations.
Dr. Whitney Vandiver is a Compliance Specialist with NuGen Automation, where she specializes in Control Room Management compliance and documentation and assists operators with state and federal CRM audits. Prior to joining NuGen Automation, Dr. Vandiver worked for an operating company in compliance-driven documentation where she served as an editor of API MPMS Chapter 18.2 during its committee development. Dr. Vandiver earned a B.A. in English from the University of Central Oklahoma and an M.A. and Ph.D, both in Linguistics, from Purdue University.
Jere Guillory is the Compliance Manager at NuGen Automation, where he specializes in Control Room Management compliance and documentation. Prior to joining NuGen Automation, Jere was a Pipeline Controller for an operating company and participated in Control Center documentation creation. Jere earned a B.A. in Communications from the University of Houston.
